At the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA), we are dedicated to providing the state's lower-income citizens with access to safe, sound affordable housing.

The year 2000 has been a successful year for THDA in promoting homeownership and administering the housing tax credit, grants and Section 8 Rental Assistance programs where demand is much greater than the supply. These programs assist thousands of low to moderate-income Tennesseans to obtain safe affordable housing.

In 2000, we were awarded the contract from HUD to assume the responsibilities of contract administration for over 360 projects for low income families. We will work with HUD, owners and tenants to preserve these affordable housing units and ensure that these units remain a safe home for over 24,000 Tennessee families.

We are strategically planning and continuing to target the resources to the priorities most important to us, which are expanding opportunities for homeownership, preserving affordable owner-occupied housing, building neighborhoods and communities, preserving and expanding availability of affordable rental housing, and management of quality housing and customer service. This plan does not describe anything new; it's just a reminder of our continued commitment to build a better Tennessee.

This Annual Report describes THDA's programs, and provides basic information on each program - whom we serve, how we serve and resources allocated. For more information about current programs and statistics on prior years, return to our Home Page on this web site.
