The Homeownership Division at THDA administers various mortgage programs statewide designed to provide financing for first-time homebuyers with low to moderate income. The success of this program depends on our maintaining productive partnerships with mortgage companies and mortgage bankers, who originate our loans. During calendar year 2001, over $180 million dollars were provided to first-time homebuyers to finance the purchase of their home. We also re-implemented the Great Start program, which provides assistance with down payment and closing costs. In addition, we implemented the New Start Program working with Non-profit Program Partners for low-income persons buying a newly-constructed home. We conducted over 40 training sessions for Mortgage Lending and Real Estate Professionals. |
